
Nicole Mae
(they/she) is an interdisciplinary artist from Treaty Four, Canada.
Their poetry, films, and art works reflect themes of nostalgia, longing, prairie queerness, Hungarian diaspora, ill body, shame, and romantic love.

Nicole is a 2025 finalist for the RBC Bronwen Wallace Award for Emerging Writers hosted by Writers' Trust of Canada. They're an author of two poetry books--Youth and Screaming Sweet Nothings--and are in the works of releasing a third. Nicole also teaches poetry on Skillshare, hosts writing workshops, and works as a book publicist for River Street Writing.

Nicole’s films are accessible on YouTube and in select art galleries across North American. Their award-winning poetry films BRUTE (made possible by EMERGENT: (multi)media screening & showcase, sponsored by SK Arts, Canada Council for the Arts, Saskatchewan Filmpool Co., and Neutral Ground Artist Run Centre) and What My Chest Says About Me are currently in gallery rotation.

After years on hiatus, Nicole has begun selling their visual artworks again. As of November 2024, their painting commissions reopened. They also launched a multimedia art subscription called Love Letters. All art is available on Ko-fi.
